Vampire Academy – 3rd Book down…

First off, Merry Christmas! I was so wrapped up in the season I neglected my dear blog.

Last post I spoke of how I was getting sucked into the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. It’s official, I am hooked. I just polished off the 3rd book in the series this afternoon. I heard from a friend it was “the best one yet”, and I think she was right. I won’t spoil it for those of you who have yet to read this series, but ‘Shadow Kiss’ was definitely the most suspenseful of the three so far, with some yummy romance built-in (teen-rated of course so ladies, don’t get your hopes up). Definitely pick it up this holiday season!
PS – I have typed this Post using my new iPhone with the WordPress App. Totally rad.

I got sucked in….

I know I wasn’t a huge fan of the first in the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead, but I think I got sucked in.

I am only partially through the first quarter of the book (did that make sense? LOL)  but so far, it’s pretty much the same as the last.  I am sure it will be one of those “You just can’t put down” books that I stay up endlessly to read until my eyes can no longer take the strain.

I will keep you posted!

Vampire Academy – As good as Twilight?

One of my husband’s colleagues thought since I loved ‘The Twilight Saga’, I would love this Series by Richelle Mead as well.

My thoughts? Not too sure about this one.  I polished off the book fairly quickly (Mainly due to the fact I was home one day with my feverish son.  Amazing how much you can read when you have a sleeping child!) I found that the names in the book were hard to get around.  They were mostly Russian sounding names, and since I am no where near from Russian lineage, I thought the pronounciation was a little challenging. (Or maybe my brain is too tired to be trying to pronounce names in my head!)

Essentially, the book is about Moroi (mortal Vampires) and Dhampirs (half-human, half-Moroi) and they are Guardians of the Moroi.  The Strigoi (sp?) are the immortal vampires who are nasty.  They have ‘feeders’ who the Moroi use for nourishment (Strigoi just kill people as nourishment).  A little grotesque and too far-out for my Christian liking. Odd that they speak about church and Priests in the same Chapter as ‘feeders’.  Weird.

I would rate it about a 3.5 out of 5 for the entertainment factor.  As good as The Twilight Saga?  Not even close!
